Challenges with Land Use Change in the U.S.

Citation:

Clark, C. Challenges with Land Use Change in the U.S. USDA-NIFA Next Generation Land-Use Change Methodology Project, Chicago, IL, April 04, 2019.

Impact/Purpose:

The purpose of this presentation is to give an overview of some of the main research challenges we face in accurately quantifying land use change in the U.S. and estimating the fraction of those changes attributable to biofuels.

Description:

This meeting is to help develop more robust estimates of land use change in the U.S. and will contribute to the Third Triennial Report to Congress on Biofuels. Understanding the amount and attribution of land use change in the U.S. remains a priority. Improved methodologies will help us quantify the amount of land use change with greater precision. Isolating and quantifying attribution of land use remains a challenge.
